Taking a Break

I had organized to join a fellow walker for the journey down the Whanaguni River. I wanted to share the journey with someone in the same canoe as me, as this is safer, easier and likely more fun. But the weather had different plans for me and I did not want to risk the 42 Traverse or the Tongararo crossing in bad weather. So, I decided to leave the trail for a few days and stay with my Uncle, Aunt and cousin near Lake Taupo and wait for the weather to improve. The few days turned into 4 days as the weather continued to be problematic.

Caroline and I have adopted a new philosophy lately, and that is to do what we want and not over plan things. So, given all of this weather, Caroline returned from Belgium and I headed back to Havelock North.

Stay tuned, I will be rejoining the trail soon.
