Palmerston North

Day 61 (1,470 to 1,494 kms)

The Wanganui to Palmerston North stretch is coming to an end. Probably the most road walking in all of Te Araroa. The road is fast and I got to the holiday park Palmerston North just after lunch. So, walked into town to do a few chores like restocking my food bag and buying a new sun shirt. I also caught up with my cousin for a beer and a bit of a natter.

As I walked South I could see the hills, and where I would be in the next few days. I am looking forward to trails that I do not need to share with cars.

The Palmerston North City Council has worked really hard to have paths that do not go along roads. Well done them.
Some of the best investment in signs anywhere along the trail so far.
As I approached Palmerston North, I managed to squeeze in a hot pie and coffee.
As I was buying my pie, my shirt ripped. Oooops. Tomorrow I buy a new one. Don’t want to be trail trash.
Arriving at the outer limits of town.
The rest of the trail was along super well maintained trails. And the hills of my future are in the background.
