We flew into Sioux Falls on Sunday evening and headed to our downtown hotel for the night. The next morning we headed to get Molly out of storage. Turned out there are three things we needed to get Molly rolling.
Getting into the Storage Unit: The storage company had changed the locks on our unit, and the key for the new lock was not available. So, with the help of a lock smith and an electrical grinder, the unit was quickly opened. Took about 2 minutes to grind through the lock.
Start Molly: The first job was to reconnect the truck batteries. Then as suspected, Molly did not start. We knew the truck batteries were damaged, which happened as we placed Molly into storage. Fortunately our house batteries are strong enough to start the truck, and this is what we did. Once we get Molly rolling, the first stop will be a battery shop.
Re-inflate Tire: Turns out one of our tires must have a slow leak, as it was totally deflated. Fortunately Molly has an on-board air compressor. Once the engine was running, we could get the compressor running. And the tire inflated just fine with no long term damage.
It was freezing cold while we did all of this. So, we were glad to get into Molly and drive away from the storage facility and head to the battery shop. Buying and installing the new batteries was a breeze, and then we headed back to the hotel to relax. We wanted to break Molly out of storage on the first day back, and glad we managed it. We had reserved the storage locker for an extra two weeks in case things got complicated.
The next day we went first to the DMV and then to the State Treasury to get Molly registered. We also went shopping to stock Molly for the next few days.
