Day 60 (1,449 to 1,470 kms)
Last night I made plans to stay with the family of a sister of my cousins wife. Which turned out to be a very good idea. It also meant that today was a shorter day. But it was pretty much all road. I made good time. As a side note, there is not much road walking left in the remaining 1,600 kms of the Te Araroa. Long sections of busy road waking is almost over.
10 kms after the start I was at Mt Lees Reserve, and a perfect spot for a short break. The reserve was nice and I enjoyed reading about the history of the house and their owners. Boots back on and the last 7kms had me into Fielding. A nice little country town, with most of what you need including coffee shops. After getting some sugary calories from McDonalds I haded to the nearest open coffee joint for a nice latte.
I stayed the night with Mike and Lydia, and very much enjoyed that. Got some insight to the farming life and how it works around here. and they welcomed me with open arms.
