South Georgia Islands

Fortunate to do two zodiac landings on the beach. The first just before sunrise at 4am and the second at 8am. King Penguins are the main event.

We spent the afternoon in Gold Harbour. New here were Gentoo Penguins and Elephant Seals.

Macaroni Penguins in the morning and visit to South Georgia's capital in the afternoon.

In the morning we visited the King Penguin Colony and we saw lots of very sociable chicks and molting adolescents.

In the afternoon we joined other hikers to retrace the last leg of Shackleton's heroic journey to save his men. Fortuna Bay to Stromness, 6km / 4m.

That morning we were lucky to visit the Albatross Colony on Prion Island; later that afternoon Stephen went zodiac cruising in Elsehul Bay.
