Stephen called this morning to say that he and Team VI were off to Base Camp, so the expedition is truly on its way now.
They were supposed to fly yesterday but the weather on the mountain was not favorable. No time has been lost though as this only meant that they got to spend an extra night comfortable in Talkeetna instead of in tents at Base Camp.
After they have settled in at Base Camp today they will do glacier travel and crevasse rescue review.
Naturally Stephen won’t be able to call me again from the mountain so from now on we’ll have to follow the expedition on the Alpine Ascents cybercasts page.
As said earlier they are not very good at posting on weekends and holidays and since Monday, May 29 is Memorial Day Holiday in the US, I don’t expect any cybercast updates until Tuesday.
It works like this: the cybercasts get phoned in and sent to Alpine Ascents’ office in Seattle and that is not open on the WE and hols.
