Navajo National Monument

From Mexican Hat to Page is Navajo Nation Reservation land, There is no wild camping on the reservation. We visited Monument Valley, but apparently our vehicle was not allowed in the park. Not even for camping. And we were not that excited about taking one of the tours in an open truck that looked very good. So we continued on with the hope of staying in Navajo National Monument which has free camp sites on a first-come-first-served. It was getting late but we tried our luck, and got lucky. Three spots for all of us.

Tim, Bec and Stephen took a ranger led walk to Betatakin, which is an ancient dwelling in the cliff face. A very nice visit indeed.
