Mario Zucchelli Station, Terra Nova Bay

Wednesday, 25th

Finally, after 9 days at sea, with no landings thus far, we all were ecstatic to be able to land and stretch our legs on terra firma in Terra Nova Bay on a gloriously sunny day! The Italian Base was ready for us and welcomed us that morning in groups of 25. We got to spend a good hour walking around the base, with some of the people stationed there giving us information about the set-up. At the end we were invited into one of the common rooms where Italian coffee and biscuits were waiting for us.
