Northern Lakes

We did a week long driving tour visiting a good number lakes. We spent 2 nights at Big Bar Lake, 2 nights at Howard Lake and 1 night each at Crooked, Green and Stump Lakes. Nearly all of these lakes we accessed via forestry or back-roads. The scenery was amazing, with a mix of alpine forest and ranching land. The leaves were turning to autumn colours, which made it all more special. At some camp-spots, we had the lake all to ourselves. It was our chance to relax and just chill a little.

At Big Bar Lake we went on an interpretative nature walk of the marsh lands, which was very nice. Howard Lake was a chance to do some chores on Molly, including removing the old wifi antenna. The new upgraded one is working well. Crooked Lake we got to light a fire, for the first time. British Columbia has had a fine ban most of the summer, but it is slowly getting lifted. At Stump Lake of neighbours gave us a Rainbow Trout, which we sous vide for dinner the following night.

Forestry and backroads. Watch for the pot-holes.
Big Bar Lake. Prime spot in front of the lake.
Spot 14 at Howard Lake. Apparently the best spot in the camp ground.
Crooked Lake. No one else here. And some late afternoon sun to enjoy.
Enjoying a beer and the fire after a very refreshing swim.
Green Lake.
Rainbow over Green Lake.
Old Kamloops road to Stump Lake. Got a bit muddy in places. Never needed 4WD however.
Stump Lake. Quite the find.
Rainbow Trout, fresh from the lake. Eaten the following night.
