Colorado National Monument

The plan was for a short day. We left the Gunnison River and headed to Grand Mesa to find a spot to camp for the night. The higher elevation and lingering winter snow made this an impossible option. But we did get a very nice drive as we crossed the Grand Mesa. Will be best to return in the fall and see all of the Aspens in their colours.

It was not long before we were in Grand Junction, and we used the opportunity to do a little shopping. And break out the maps to find a place to stay. Just down the road was Colorado National Monument, so we headed over there. This proved to be a good choice, as it was a very nice little park. We went for a walk along the rim of the canyon and just relaxed. We will be back to see more.

Entering the National Forest.
Yep, it was snowing.
Nice views into the Valley.
Following the Colorado River.
Nice little Canyonlands.
Grand Junction in the background. We could see the city lights at night.
